I suggest you cry your eyes out by watching Hachi: A Dog’s Tale instead.

Rated: PG

Starring: the hot(ter) Bridges brother, the sister from Six Feet Under, the grandma from True Blood

Plot: A true story about a writer dealing with personal issues who takes in a troubled dog.

Tanya’s Verdict: Although not a dog person per sé, I’ve seen a few movies about them that have moved me – such as Marley & Me (2008), Hachi: A Dog’s Tale (2009) and even the more recent A Dog’s Purpose (2017). All three of these movies were compelling in their own way and told an interesting story.

Not so for A Dog Year. The story is bland, the characters are weak and frankly I couldn’t care less about the dog. Give this one a pass.
