Tanya’s Score: Okay-and-a-half*
Rated: PG (with a few inappropriate words)
Starring: Madelyn Stillwell; Commander Lawrence; Governor George Wilburn
Plot: A suburban babysitter (Elisabeth Shue) is stranded in Chicago with the kids she’s watching after a series of unfortunate events.
Tanya’s Verdict: This was a favourite from my childhood – and I know why: it’s plot-based with one mild calamity occurring after another; it’s just off-side enough to be appealing to tweens and young teens; and it’s funny.
Watching it through adult eyes, I can see it for what it is: a completely contrived and unrealistic movie that is the perfect film for a family movie night.
One thing to note: after seeing Vincent D’Onofrio in the role of Dawson the garage owner/Thor – I realize time can be very cruel.
