A bit dated, a bit politically incorrect, still funny.

Tanya’s Score: Good and-a-half*

Rated: PG-13

Starring: Mike Myers x 2, a bunch of familiar faces

Plot: A British spy (Myers) from the 1960s is cryogenically frozen – only to be thawed in the 1990s in order to continue the hunt for his elusive nemesis – Dr. Evil (Myers).

Tanya’s Verdict: I remember loving this movie back in the 1990s – and the good news is it’s still pretty funny. There are several instances where it dates itself – with reference to CDs being mistaken for records (my kids don’t know what either are) as well as monumental moments in time that Powers missed while frozen (the crumbling of the Berlin Wall) that went over my kids’ heads.

But Myers as Powers and Dr. Evil is what truly makes this film what it is – which means it’s still entertaining and as silly as ever. Yet again, many jokes are at the expense of the female characters – something a bit cringe-worthy by today’s standards. Political correctness aside, this slapstick movie still works.
