A few laughs – but nothing special

Tanya’s Score: Okay*

Rated: PG-13

Starring: a bunch of people from SNL, the guy from Parenthood (the tv show), the guy from Parenthood (the movie), the guy from Weeds, the woman from Ghostbusters

Plot: After focussing on building up her career, a 37-year-old woman (Tina Fey)struggles to have a baby and ends up hiring a down-and-out woman (Amy Poehler) to be her surrogate.

Tanya’s Verdict: There are a couple of laughs, but for some reason Fey and Poehler just don’t pull together the comedy magic that you’d expect and that you’d hope for. This movie was a fine one for a boring and rainy Sunday afternoon – but I would recommend the Fey/Poehler movie Sisters (2015) over this one – any day of the week.
