A bit dated but still just as silly and funny as ever.

Tanya’s Score: Good and-a-half*

Rated: PG-13

Starring: sell-out Sandler (before he became a complete sell-out), an apoplectic Chris Farley

Plot: In order to inherit his father’s multi-million dollar hotel empire, an idiot party-boy (Sandler) must re-enroll in school and pass all grades from one to twelve.

Tanya’s Verdict: If you don’t mind an implausible storyline chock full of moronic humour then prepare to sit back and enjoy. Otherwise don’t bother. Out of all of Sandler’s movies, this one is my favourite. In my opinion, in 1995 he was still trying to make a half-decent movie with some funny jokes and genuine effort on his part. I can easily watch Billy Madison once a year and enjoy it for what it is – a bit of silly fun. That said, there are plenty of instances where the jokes are at a woman’s expense – something that just wouldn’t fly in a movie made in present day.
