Tanya’s Score: Good*
Rated: 14A
Starring: a frumpy comedian, her husband and Richard E. Grant
Plot: Based on the true story of Lee Israel, a former celebrity writer who turns to forging literary letters in order to make ends meet.
Tanya’s Verdict: Some may say this movie’s plot is so dreary and depressing that it teeters toward dull. Some may say this – not me though. Personally, I have a vested interest in any movie having to do with the literary world as it combines my two favourites (film and literature). Although not the sexiest of storylines, the movie held my attention and did a fabulous job at detailing the lives of two riveting characters. Both Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant were shining stars in their roles – elevating this film IMHO.
