Easy to throw together – delicious to devour.

This is an oldie but goodie that I originally found in a 2012 edition of Canadian Living. I have since changed it up a tad. Delish!

Ingredients:

1 lb. ground turkey
1/2 c. quick-cooking rolled oats (not instant)
1 egg
2 green onions, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
2 t. Dijon mustard
1/4 each: salt and pepper
1 c. grated cheddar cheese
1 t. olive oil (for cooking)
buns

Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl (except for olive oil – and buns, dummy!) Shape into burgers (makes about 5 or 6 large or 10 mini – I typically double the recipe for my family).

In a large non-stick skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and cook the patties for about 5 minutes per side (or until a meat thermometer inserted sideways reads 165F). I cut the burgers in half while cooking to ensure they are cooked through.

Meanwhile, on a baking sheet, toast the buns in a 450F oven for about 3 minutes – until they are golden.

Hope your family enjoys these tasty burgers as much as mine does!
