With no expectations, I ended up liking this movie just fine.

Rated: 14A

Starring: a lot of Matt Damon, a bit of Christoph Waltz, and a smattering of Kristen Wiig

Plot: A man decides to undergo a shrinking process in order to help human kind while also believing he will live a more fulfilling and luxurious lifestyle.

Tanya’s Verdict: The movie is a tad different than it purports to be based upon its trailer. In my opinion, it is less to do with people shrinking themselves than it is to do with living a worthwhile, beneficial and meaningful life. The plot is meandering but I’m okay with that. Characters come and go – which I’m also okay with. The movie provides some insight into world issues and the human condition while shining a spotlight on ideas of ethics and morality. I’ll admit I didn’t have high expectations for this one – and I ended up liking it just fine. There is an especially moving scene involving a conversation between Waltz, Damon and actress Hong Chau about taking a trip to Norway. If anyone tells you that I cried . . . they are filthy liars – I had a speck of dust in my eye.
