Rated: 14A
Starring: No one
Plot: A group of friends are gifted with an escape room adventure – which quickly turns deadly.
Tanya’s Verdict: Someone recommended I watch this movie. It turns out – this isn’t the right one. Apparently there are several movies called Escape Room – and the one I was supposed to watch is from 2019. Live and learn.
This one was not bad for being low budget. That said – there are a couple of plot loose ends which really bothered me – bothered me enough that I could not in good conscience score this movie any higher than just okay.
There’s a female character at the beginning who disappears from the plot – I figured she’d end up playing in to the story’s resolution – but nope. She is simply gone. So what was her purpose? You got me.
Also – the scene at the movie’s beginning – it doesn’t really tie into the story either. And about the ending – I’m not sure what it means – possibly leading up to future sequels that have been since left in the dust?
That said – there are a good 45 minutes in the middle of this film that are intense and even chilling. But that’s about it.
