Not as good as the first time around.

Rated: PG

Starring: “mentally challenged with a heart of gold” Sean Penn, “tough cookie lawyer with a heart of gold” Michelle Pfeiffer, “sweet l’il tow-head with a heart of gold” Dakota Fanning

Plot: A mentally challenged man with the intellectual understanding of a seven-year-old fights for custody of his young daughter.

Tanya’s Verdict: In my memory, this movie was a lot more believable and heartwarming than on this second viewing. There are a lot of court room scenes, the plot is pretty simplistic and downright impossible-seeming at times and it runs a tad long at over two hours. Still, Sean Penn’s performance is worth watching – and my kids enjoyed it.
