Tanya’s Score: Good-and-a-half*
Rated: 14A
Starring: Jay Sebring; Freddy Funkhouser; a vampire lover
Plot: Based on the true story of Chris McCandless (Emile Hirsch), a young man who upon graduating from university hitchhikes to Alaska to live in the wild.
Tanya’s Verdict: Despite this movie having a longer running time than I remember (almost 2 1/2 hours), it goes by fast with its beautiful soundtrack and cast of believable and colourful characters.
Jumping from past to present pushes the momentum of this movie forward. And despite the hints of sadness throughout, for the most part Into the Wild is inspirational with the ideas it presents about following the life path that you choose for yourself and finding beauty in nature and fellow humankind.
My kids all fell asleep about half-way through.
