It comes at night . . . except when it comes by day.

Rated: 14A

Starring: A hot Aussie (Joel Edgerton), Marnie’s ex-boyfriend on Girls (Christopher Abbott) and Elvis’s granddaughter (Riley Keough).

Plot: A mysterious, highly contagious and fast-acting virus seems to have affected the human species. As a result, a family has holed themselves up in their home – relying on instinct and caution in order to survive.

Tanya’s verdict: If slow, creepy and intense is your bag – then go for it. There are even a couple of jump scares thrown in. While at first I felt like the story was lacking and was disappointed in the conclusion . . . the more I thought about the film, the more it grew on me. Also an important lesson comes through loud and clear: in times of serious crisis trust no one but yourself – and even this can lead to your inevitable undoing.
