Tanya’s Score: Good-and-a-half*
Rated: 14A
Starring: Harry Potter
Plot: Based on a true story: in 1981 three young travellers (Daniel Radcliffe; Joel Jackson; Alex Russell) head into the Bolivian jungle looking for adventure and end up fighting for their lives.
Tanya’s Verdict: This movie was a chilling portrayal of what can easily go wrong when you’re young and cocksure and travelling in unfamiliar territory.
I thought that Radcliffe did a fine job in this role – he definitely shed the last remnants of his boy wizard character – although truth be told, his Israeli accent seemed to come and go.
In my opinion, I found this Netflix movie to be part survival story part adventure tale with the feeling of a thriller. The entire family was riveted – although I had to shut my eyes during one particularly gruesome scene. I won’t give anything away – other than to say it had to do with a burrowing worm.
