Thought-provoking and beautiful – I loved it.

Rated: 14A

Starring: Michael Scott, Walter White and Pops

Plot: Vietnam vet Doc Shepherd (Steve Carell), reunites with two of his long-lost buddies and the three of them embark on a road trip in order to collect the body of Doc’s soldier son killed in Iraq.

Tanya’s Verdict: Anyone thinking this is an action-packed war movie would be sorely mistaken. This is a poignant and touching, sometimes funny but more often-than-not heartbreaking journey undertaken by a grief-stricken father. Characters engage in long yet interesting discussions that bring to light discrepancies, ideals, beliefs and dilemmas regarding war, duty and friendship. This film is thought-provoking as well as beautiful in its truth. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did.
