I liked it . . . but you probably won’t.

Rated: 18A

Starring: J Law, J Bar, Ed Ha, Mi Pfe, Kri Wii

Plot: A seemingly happy couple (Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem) and their peaceful life is intensely disrupted by the arrival of a strange and mysterious couple (Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer) claiming they believed their home to be a bed and breakfast.

Tanya’s Verdict: Mass opinion appears to be completely against all aspects of this film. As a matter of fact, several audience members got up and left the theatre while I was in attendance – and after the closing credits rolled, disgruntled viewers openly asked for their money back. Not for the first nor last time, I’m going to go against the general public’s sentiment and state for the record that I liked it.

First off, it was visually stimulating and entertaining from the get-go. Never once was I bored. And once the movie took a turn and I made the realization that this was not the film I signed up for and was never going to be – and came to terms with this fact – I continued to enjoy it.

If you have a high tolerance for movies that are strange and unusual, that don’t necessarily follow the norm, that inspire a visceral, internal reaction, that perhaps portray something larger than initially believed . . . then give mother! a try. If you’re not into all that crap – then definitely give it a miss.
