The perfect combination of quirky and hilarious.

Tanya’s Score: Great*

Rated: PG

Starring: No one

Plot: A quirky misfit by the name of Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder) deals with his strange family and peers at school.

Tanya’s Verdict: This movie is hilarious in the way that a good conversation can be. You may not be able to pinpoint the specific jokes but you still laughed and had a great time during it – which is all that truly matters. The actors in this film are funny – mainly due to their mannerisms, their actions and reactions and occasionally due to their dialogue. The storyline is sparse and unapologetic yet the movie remains riveting and focussed. With a definite 80s retro feel (none of the characters appear to have cell phones), the movie does mention email which means it is more contemporary than it seems at first glance. Despite feeling light and airy – Napoleon Dynamite makes use of a couple of strong underlying themes revolving around friendship and staying true to yourself. A great family film!
