Entertaining at times, unintentionally hilarious at others.

Rated: 14A

Starring: the dirty dancing Swayze, the thespian Reeves and the terrifying Busey

Plot: An FBI agent (Keanu Reeves) goes deep undercover in order to befriend a ragtag group of surfers that may or may not be carrying out bank heists.

Tanya’s Verdict: It’s truly hard for me to say whether or not this is a good movie. Nostalgia and time-worn patterns have taken hold to the point where I can no longer distinguish what is what.

A certain individual in my household who shall remain unnamed has done to this movie (for me) what he claims I have done (for him) to 80s music – basically overplayed it to the point of ruin.

I can say for certain that Keanu Reeves is a borderline acting robot and Gary Busey is as grotesque as all get-out. The plot and dialogue are both dated at some points and also quite silly. But I’ll give it this – it’s an easy movie to watch if you are looking for light entertainment with a lot of (unintentional) laughs! And while both Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves have never been my cups of tea – they are young and handsome.

Also the 2015 remake is horrendous – so if you are in a Point Break sort of mood – stick with the original.
