Tanya’s Score: Okay-and-a-half*
Rated: PG
Starring: Kip and Sally
Plot: A boy (Ross Malinger) calls in to an on-air radio program in the hopes of helping his recently widowed father (Tom Hanks) find a new wife.
Tanya’s Verdict: I discovered the hard way that some movies just don’t age well. In terms of Sleepless in Seattle, the plot is hokey and in no way above and beyond typical rom/com fare.
Once upon a time, I found the “peeling an apple” scene a chills-inspiring plot element. Now it was just cringe-invoking.
Maybe I’ve outgrown the contrived and predictable rom/com movie genre. Or maybe Sleepless in Seattle just isn’t one of the better ones.
*Four score descriptions: Sh**; Okay; Good; Great
