A good movie. Had it maintained its light, yet edgy, tone to the end – it would have been better

Tanya’s Score: Good*

Rated: 14A

Starring: some unknown Canadians and a Mad Man

Plot: A group of teenagers suspect their police officer neighbour (Rich Sommer) is the rampant serial killer terrorizing their town and are desperate to prove it.

Tanya’s Verdict: I enjoyed this movie – up to a certain point. Taking place in 1984, the movie definitely had a retro feel with it’s music and style. Plus, its Rear Window (1954) meets Disturbia (2007) plot-line is ideal for kids – although the many F-bombs and sexual talk is not.

Without giving anything away, the film changes tone suddenly and becomes dark and gruesome without any gradual shift. By the time the end credits rolled, I realized this was not the movie I signed up for.

Even so – it was pretty good. Had it maintained the lighter vibe (think The ‘Burbs {1989}) it started out with – it would have been better.
