Tanya’s Score: Sh**-and-a-half*
Rated: 14A
Starring: Three real-life heroes but unfortunately fake actors
Plot: Based on the 2015 true story of three American men (Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone) who took down a terrorist aboard a train from Amsterdam to Paris.
Tanya’s Verdict: Another clunker from director Clint Eastwood. I’ll admit – he took a risk using the three real men who foiled the terrorist plot in this film in lieu of hiring actors. But it failed. First off, these three men – no matter how hard they tried – were stiff, unnatural and just bad actors.
Second of all, this 90 minute movie was created around a minutes-long event. Eastwood attempted to flesh it out via flashbacks and foreshadowing lead-ups – but mainly they were boring and often they lacked subtlety and sometimes they were unintentionally hilariously awful.
This movie may have been well-intentioned – but it falls flat.
