Tanya’s Score: Good-and-a-half*
Rated: TV MA
Starring: typical Coen brothers fare as well as a bunch of vaguely recognizable actors
Plot: Six short vignettes depicting life on the American frontier which include a singing cowboy, a would-be bank robber, an entertainer, a gold digger, a travelling wagon train, and a couple of bounty hunters.
Tanya’s Verdict: This Netflix original movie was impressive in all of its tongue-in-cheek glory. The Coen brothers did not disappoint with their carefully constructed and darkly humorous depictions of life on the American frontier. While most of the stories were good – a couple stood out as great for me (The Gal Who Got Rattled – starring Zoe Kazan and Near Algodones starring James Franco). If you are already a Coen brothers fan – then definitely watch this one. If macabre mixed with comedy sounds like a good combination to you – then definitely watch this one.
