Tanya’s Score: Good*
Rated: 14A
Starring: Leo “Titanic” DiCaprio; Tilda “Vampire” Swinton
Plot: An American travelling in Thailand (Leonardo DiCaprio) finds a hand-drawn map leading to an idyllic island community which he soon discovers has a dark side.
Tanya’s Verdict: In my opinion, this movie still holds up. Though I’d only seen it once or twice going on nearly 20 years ago, I still remembered most of the key plot twists throughout.
My daughters thought the movie bizarre – despite the fact that they enjoyed it. Most likely because there is nothing remotely predictable about this film – from beginning to end. Or maybe because I had to explain to them both what an “internet cafe” was.
From what I recall, the book is quite good as well.
