Strange, slow, creepy – but not bad.

Tanya’s Score: Okay-and-a-half*

Rated: 14A

Starring: Mr. Hollywood; hot girl from Pump Up the Volume

Plot: An unsuspecting teenager (Charlie Plummer) becomes embroiled in a serial killer’s plans.

Tanya’s Verdict: This was an interesting movie – and different. It’s very slow-paced and calculated with sparse and simple dialogue. A lot of what occurs happens in the pauses and silence as well as from the action and dialogue.

I hesitate to go into too much detail – as this is one of those movies where you are better off just watching it without knowing too much beforehand. However there is a lot within The Clovehitch Killer that bothers me: Dylan McDermott’s character behaviour (it’s laughable when maybe it’s supposed to be creepy?) and I don’t feel that much of Charlie Plummer’s reactions and ensuing behaviour are authentic of a teenage boy thrown into his particular situation.

So if you are into creepy serial killer movies – this is a good one to watch. Maybe you’ll like it more than I did.
