My kids liked it – as for me – I’ll take the 1966 animated short any day of the week over this dull film.

Tanya’s Score: Okay-and-a-half*

Rated: G

Starring: Benedict Something, Something Jones, the guy from SNL

Plot: Peeved off by the townspeople who are looking forward to Christmas, the Grinch (Benedict Cumberbatch) plots to ruin their holiday.

Tanya’s Verdict: Ten minutes in and I was already bored. There was nothing special about this movie whatsoever: nothing compelling in the visuals, nothing unique with the story and Cumberbatch was phoning it in – almost as if he was worried about looking silly. So I ate some popcorn, sipped my Diet Coke and then took a nap until I was awoken by my kids yelling “Mom! It’s over!”

For the record, all three of them liked it. As for me, I’ll take the 30 minute Boris Karloff version any day of the week.
