Tanya’s Score: Okay*
Rated: PG-13
Starring: some cute no-name teens; Girls mom; OITNB prison guard
Plot: When a teen boy (Daniel Diemer) asks Ellie (Leah Lewis) to help him write a love letter to his high school crush (Alexxis Lemire), he has no idea that Ellie also has a crush on her.
Tanya’s Verdict: The Half Of It disguises itself as a sweet, simple and quirky movie when it’s really a vapid depiction of a tired plot with stereotypical one-dimensional characters who behave unlike any real teenager I’ve ever met.
The more this movie progressed, the more annoyed I became. It had potential of taking a simple story made somewhat more complicated and interesting with the LGBTQ angle and telling an honest story – but it failed. Miserably.
Instead it’s a forgettable movie that even my girls weren’t all that crazy about.
