Tanya’s Score: Okay-and-a-half*
Rated: PG
Starring: vocals from – some comics, some actors, Indiana Jones and NOT Louis C.K.
Plot: Several house pets embark on secret missions and/or adventures not involving their human owners.
Tanya’s Verdict: Based on what could indeed be a spotty memory, this sequel is pretty much the same as the first movie – it’s not bad – although it certainly isn’t great either.
From what I remember, the first instalment (from 2016) felt a bit misleading compared to the trailer as well as the very title. I wanted more from the various pet characters in terms of their own specific secret lives. Instead, what I got was a main plot line involving a bunch of the animals.
With the sequel, there are three distinct plot lines that are all loosely connected. I liked this aspect about it. Still, the heavy-handed storyline from Plot A with its life lessons regarding being a “helicopter/city parent” got a bit tiresome.
I must admit – I laughed out loud a couple of times.
But other than that, this movie is forgettable.
