Incredible and amazing at first glance – dark and disturbing at second.

Tanya’s Score: Good*

Rated: PG

Starring: American triplets

Plot: This documentary details the incredible true story of New York male triplets separated at birth in 1961 who discover each other’s existence by accident 19 years later.

Tanya’s Verdict: This movie starts off great – the story is amazing, the retelling is compelling – it’ll give you goosebumps. Yet underneath the heartwarming and unbelievable storyline lies many disturbing and upsetting truths. The last quarter of Three Identical Strangers takes a darker turn – which is part of the story – but for some reason the film loses its momentum at this point. No longer riveted by the onscreen revelations or the filmed subjects discussing the past, I found myself nodding off. All in all though, still a pretty good documentary.
