Not bad. Too bad it’s forgettable.

Tanya’s Score: Just shy of Good*

Rated: 14A

Starring: Mr. “alright alright alright” McConaughey, Ms. “Single White Female” Jason Leigh

Plot: In Detroit during the 1980s, a teenager gets caught up in gang life, selling drugs and working with the FBI – it does not end well. Based on the true story of Richard Wershe Jr.

Tanya’s Verdict: There is plenty of good within this movie – there’s a gritty realness to it, the acting is pretty good, the story is relevant, there are several compelling scenes. The problem is it’s utterly forgettable. Give me six months and I won’t remember a goddamned thing about it – kind of like the movie Black Mass (2015). I know I saw it, I know Johnny Depp stars in it, I know it’s based on fact – but that’s all I got.
