Tanya’s Score: Okay-and-a-half*
Rated: 14A
Starring: the world class diva Whitney Houston (and friends and family)
Plot: A documentary looking at the life and music of gone-too-soon diva Whitney Houston.
Tanya’s Verdict: The first half of this movie was easier to watch than the second half. I don’t really know why – maybe it was faster-paced; maybe it was just more interesting. But the second half dragged and seemed to falter.
By the end of Whitney, I realized it didn’t tell me anything I hadn’t already known: once upon a time she was talented and beautiful and had the world at her feet. Suddenly she was floundering, then dead under tragic circumstances.
In no way did I feel this movie was an in-depth look at the life and songs of Whitney – in fact, it barely scratched the surface.
