Surprisingly deep.

Tanya’s Score: Good*

Rated: 14A

Starring: Jake Peralta; the mother that was finally met

Plot: When a man (Andy Samberg) and woman (Cristin Milioti) meet at a Palm Springs wedding, they have no idea how intertwined their respective lives are about to become.

Tanya’s Verdict: I went into this one with no expectations – I didn’t even know what the plot was about and so I was very pleasantly surprised. What I got was a Groundhog Day-esque storyline with the added twist that it affects more than just a single person. And while Palm Springs could’ve gone for comedy alone, it did not. There is an underlying depth to the thin surface of quirkiness which lay on top.

This movie reminded me a lot of the short-lived yet very awesome sitcom Forever – if only for the similar vibe that they both exude.

And while there are a couple of loose ends that just don’t add up – I’m willing to overlook them because of how much I enjoyed this story and the lessons it imparts.
