Tanya’s Score: Great*
Rated: 14A
Starring: Street smart Koreans
Plot: A down and out family ingratiates and entangles themselves with an upper class family with unexpected results.
Tanya’s Verdict: This movie is a roller coaster ride from beginning to end. It’s thrilling, interesting and trust me on this – you will have no idea where it’s heading until it’s finished.
I feel like Parasite is comprised of two distinct movies: the first is quirky – even funny but in a moment the second turns dark – even sinister. The plot depicts master manipulation feeding off naivety with a sub-plot focussing on class conflict. But even if you don’t delve deep into this film, it’s an enjoyable original.
Despite not being a kids’ movie, my three were so enthralled that they didn’t once complain about reading subtitles.
