Tanya’s Score: Good*
Rated: PG
Starring: Queen Bey; Atlanta’s “it” boy; James Earl Jones
Plot: Feeling responsible for the death of his father, a lion cub flees and discovers the meaning of bravery, loyalty, responsibility and family.
Tanya’s Verdict: If you like the animated 1994 version of The Lion King, then chances are you’ll like this one just the same. Nothing’s really changed except for the voices – and that’s not even the case where Mufasa is concerned.
This live-action version is just fine. There are no surprise twists or really any changes whatsoever. I nodded off for a bit and woke up in time to see the ending I know and love. If you’ve seen one Lion King, then you’ve seen them all.
