Plot: Based on the Funny or Die series, Galifianakis takes his crew on the road in order to film his tongue-in-cheek celebrity interviews.
Tanya’s Verdict: If you appreciate Zach Galifianakis and his sometimes subtle, sometimes cynical, sometimes screwball sense of humour – then this is for you. Also if you are familiar with the Funny or Die clips of Between Two Ferns and enjoy them – then this is also for you. Otherwise, don’t bother.
I’m a huge fan of both Galifianakis as well as Between Two Ferns – and I still thought this Netflix movie came up short. For the most part, the interviews are funny, even downright hilarious – but the thin and scripted plot conjoining the interviews is lame (save for a few humorous moments here and there). I also thought the outtakes shown during the closing credits was especially good – it’s always nice to see Galifianakis actually crack up.
