Quietly disturbing

Tanya’s Score: Good*

Rated: 14A

Starring: Glove Girl from The Haunting of Hill House; That Cute Guy from all those shows

Plot: A deaf writer (Kate Siegel) fights for her life in her secluded cabin when she is targeted by a masked murderer (John Gallagher Jr.).

Tanya’s Verdict: There is something about writer/director Mike Flanagan that I really like. He knows how to craft a good story from nothing more than a bit of an idea and some interesting characters. It may sound simple enough – but so many writer/directors don’t do it all that well – even with A-list actors and a big budget in their corner. But not so for Mikey F – he has a knack.

Hush will have you on the edge-of-your-seat with your fists clenched until the very bitter end. A word of warning, I let my girls watch this one despite quite a few disturbing scenes.
