The beginning of the end for Adam Sandler’s comedies . . .

Tanya’s Score: Okay*

Rated: PG

Starring: Happy, the non-Heather, Eyebrows

Plot: When a sweet and simple small-town man (Adam Sandler) inherits a media mogul’s fortune, he decides to do things his own way.

Tanya’s Verdict: This movie is based on a Frank Capra production from long ago – Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936) – and even though I’ve never seen the original – I’ll assume this remake does not do it justice.

When it comes to his silly comedies, Mr. Deeds is the beginning of the end for Adam Sandler. It has a few half-hearted funny parts where I half-heartedly laughed. But otherwise, it’s lazy and kind of dull. Yet in certain situations – lazy and dull entertainment is sometimes just what a family needs.

*Four score descriptions: Sh**; Okay; Good; Great
