Slow to start but good in the end.

Tanya’s Score: Good*

Rated: 14A

Starring: Tony Banderas and Penny Cruz

Plot: An aging film director (Antonio Banderas) reflects upon his life choices.

Tanya’s Verdict: There’s a common thread running through all the Pedro Almódovar movies I’ve seen that I can’t quite put my finger on. The main character is usually reflective, they feature strong female characters, plot lines often involve coincidence, they make use of brightly coloured sets – and they all seem a bit meandering at the start. But generally by the movie’s end, they wrap up nicely and I find that I’ve enjoyed the journey.

That said – I don’t recommend watching two in a row.

*Four score descriptions: Sh**; Okay; Good; Great
