Could have been better. Should have been better.

Tanya’s Score: Okay-and-a-half*

Rated: 14A

Starring: Celeste Wright, Krystal Stubbs, and Colin Farrell

Plot: In Virginia during the Civil War, a wounded Yankee soldier is taken in by a girls school, setting off a chain reaction of jealousy and deception.

Tanya’s Verdict: There’s a lot going on beneath the simple plot of this female-dominated drama. But just as in Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides (1999), this movie sounds better than it is. It should have been better than it was.

In the end, it was okay. But I was kind of bored.
