Basically un-watchable.

Tanya’s Score: Sh**

Rated: PG

Starring: Mary (something about her); Steve (he’s dead to me); Seb (just kidding)

Plot: A married couple (Cameron Diaz; James Marsden) receive a box with a button on their doorstep and are told that if they push it, they will receive a large amount of money and someone will die.

Tanya’s Verdict: I remember this plot line from from when it was a Twilight Zone episode starring Mare Winningham – and for 22 minutes it was fine. But I couldn’t fathom how anyone could stretch this storyline into a feature film. And I’m still wondering – because hands down this is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.

Not only did it not make a lick of sense but I was bored and tuned out about half-way through. Beyond the “press the button, get some money and kill someone” premise, there’s something about deformities (Diaz is missing toes on one of her feet; Frank Langella is missing part of his cheek); there’s something about a cult or aliens or an experiment gone wrong; people get inexplicable bloody noses; a kid suddenly goes blind and deaf. Are you confused? So was I – I still am. Plus many of the scenes were unintentionally hilarious – never a good sign.

If this movie seems intriguing to you, I urge you to find the Twilight Zone episode and just watch that instead.

*Four score descriptions: Sh**; Okay; Good; Great
