Despite this movie being a tad dated – the story is captivating and inspirational.

Tanya’s Score: Good-and-a-half*

Rated: PG

Starring: a Goonie’s mom; a Graduate’s muse

Plot: The true story of visually impaired Anne Sullivan (Anne Bancroft) teaching blind and deaf Helen Keller (Patty Duke) how to communicate.

Tanya’s Verdict: Yes – this movie is in black and white – and yes it also happens to be a tad dated in the way it is filmed and portrayed. But the subject matter is so compelling to watch, that my kids got over it quickly.

This story is an inspirational one – depicting the worth and value that should be afforded to all human beings. And the tenacious woman who would not give up on the worth and value she saw in a little girl who could so easily have been dismissed by society.

*Four score descriptions: Sh**; Okay; Good; Great
