Nothing special from beginning to end.

Tanya’s Score: Okay*

Rated: 14A

Starring: Orange is the new horror; Bon cop bad child psychologist; the “you’ll float too” kid

Plot: Parents (Taylor Schilling; Peter Mooney) of a gifted child (Jackson Robert Scott) make a chilling discovery about their son’s strange and violent behaviour.

Tanya’s Verdict: There are a few half-assed jump scares and some scenes of anticipated gore but the plot of The Prodigy is utterly predictable and bland. My girls thought it was alright – so maybe it’s better suited for the teen set. Although that said – there’s some harsh language as well as a disturbing mention of sexual assault against a child. This movie is nothing special from beginning to end – and I will hazard a guess that come 2020, it will have faded completely from my memory.

*Four score descriptions: Sh**; Okay; Good; Great
