Not bad – but much more contrived and hokey than I remember.

Tanya’s Score: Okay-and-a-half*

Rated: PG-13

Starring: a bunch of B-listers; Ellen Burstyn

Plot: A young woman (Alison Elliott) is released from prison and moves to a small town where she finds work in the local diner.

Tanya’s Verdict: I remember watching this years ago and loving it. In my memory it was a moving and poignant drama filled with twists and turns. Re-watching it more than 20 years later, it’s definitely not bad – though I found it to be contrived and hokey. Both my teen daughters thoroughly enjoyed it.

*Four score descriptions: Sh**; Okay; Good; Great
