Not bad. Nothing special though.

Tanya’s Score: Okay-and-a-half*

Rated: 14A

Starring: a bunch of Iranians

Plot: A mother (Narges Rashidi) and daughter (Avin Manshadi) living in 1980’s Tehran must deal with missile drops as well as an evil presence within their home.

Tanya’s Verdict: If you are looking for a creepy thriller to pass some time and don’t mind reading subtitles – then look no further than Under the Shadow (it’s available on Canadian Netflix). There were a few sufficiently eerie scenes that made me jump and a half-decent storyline. My kids enjoyed it too.

Other than that, it doesn’t really stand out – and I will probably struggle to remember the details of this movie in a year or so.

*Four score descriptions: Sh**; Okay; Good; Great
