Plot: A couple of bumbling hunter/gatherers (Jack Black; Michael Cera) are turfed from their tribe and set out on an adventure, encountering many biblical characters along the way.
Tanya’s Verdict: I first watched this when it came out and didn’t like it then either. I figured enough time had passed that I could appreciate Year One for the stupid comedy that it was – but nope. Many perfect opportunities for a silly joke or some inserted humour come and go with nothing more than some lame dialogue or dull action designed to move the plot along. Most jokes simply fall flat – and the few that are genuinely funny are few and far between.
The storyline is nonsensical – but had Year One actually been funny – this could easily be forgiven. My kids didn’t enjoy it either.
