WTF?! Still not sure. But I know I liked it.

Tanya’s Score: Good-and-a-half*

Rated: 14A

Starring: Meth Damon and Detective Grace

Plot: A young woman (Jessie Buckley) travels with her new boyfriend (Jesse Plemons) to a remote farm town to meet his parents (Toni Collette; David Thewlis) and gets more than she bargained for.

Tanya’s Verdict: Before watching this film, you should answer the following questions:

  • Are you familiar with the work of writer/director Charlie Kaufman?
  • Are you okay with being confused and even frustrated when watching a movie?

If you answered “yes” to both, then this may be a good one for you to watch. Otherwise, I suggest steering clear.

During the initial car drive scene, there was such heavy tension between the two main characters that I just knew I was in for a treat. And I was not let down. Though I didn’t start to connect any dots until the couple made it to the farm house. Still, “WTF?!” was going through my mind for most of the movie.

As for Toni Collette – what an amazing actress. I could sit and watch her facial expressions all day long.

I won’t give anything away here – though I will say this: I’m Thinking of Ending Things is not your typical movie. It’s highly unusual and will have you thinking about it for days afterward. And if you’re like me – once it’s finished, you’ll have to google a few websites to figure most of it out.

  1. Hubby and I enjoy quirky movies and I especially like character driven plots. This movie did not disappoint!
I would not recommend this to people who prefer a traditional movie, straightforward from beginning to end.

  2. Deo and I watched it last night. We were equally WTF’D. Loved the dialog and found ourselves rewinding back cause we thought we were losing it.
