From beginning to end, I was transfixed by this updated classic.

Tanya’s Score: Great*

Rated: PG

Starring: Ladybird, Hermione, Saul Goodman and the talented and beautiful Laura Dern

Plot: Tales of the four March sisters (Saiorse Ronan; Emma Watson; Florence Pugh; Eliza Scanlen) – young women coming of age and intent on finding their respective places in the world.

Tanya’s Verdict: Greta Gerwig’s slightly different take on this beloved Louisa May Alcott novel is what elevated this movie beyond my expectations. All the nuts and bolts of the classic tale Little Women remain – they are just told in a bit of back and forth between past and present – adding some more depth to this movie’s storytelling.

From beginning to end, I was transfixed by the story and characters. When it comes to my teen daughters the reviews are mixed – one enjoyed it and the other deemed it “old fashioned and boring“. But I say pay her no heed. If you’re a fan of Little Women and/or a fan of good movies – then watch this one.

*Four score descriptions: Sh**; Okay; Good; Great
