A good movie – but definitely overrated.

Tanya’s Score: Good*

Rated: 14A

Starring: Scorsese’s regulars; Anna Paquin

Plot: An elderly mobster (Robert De Niro) recounts his life of crime and possible involvement in Jimmy Hoffa’s (Al Pacino) disappearance.

Tanya’s Verdict: The Irishman is a good film. I enjoyed it and found it entertaining. And in my opinion, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino are the shining stars in this one.

However, it’s long. Way too long. Way way too long – three and-a-half hours to be exact.  And it needn’t be.

Also – I found De Niro’s clearly fake blue eyes to be a distraction. And he’s Irish? Really? A slightly younger actor would have been a better casting decision – as it’s always easier to age an actor than to rejuvenate them to a time of youth.

Yes – I liked The Irishman. But it’s definitely overrated.
